A Light Hearted Disney With Guns

What would happen if everyone above the age of 15 just disappears.

The film would start the day everyone disappears. The beginning of the film would show kids doing every possible thing they could have ever wanted to do but was not allowed.
Example: A 12 year old boy speeds around in his fathers BMW.

Towards the end of the film the story takes a 180 and the kids now live under martial law.
Example: A group of boys have taken their fathers guns and live together in a house they took over. Eating involves cautiously walking to a local gas station to take what has been left over.

Sounds like a modern retelling of Lord of the Flies. Maybe the grown-ups are slain by a super virus or some such.

If you're not familiar with the book or the films (from 1963 and 1990), definitely check them out. The basic story is a classic, so you'll need some kind of twist to set yours apart.

Unless kids with guns is the hook of your story (and it could be), the child-gone-feral has been done a bit.

What if, instead, your story showed all the adults of the world getting sick and having the children run things for a bit, only to discover that the kids' do it better? Wimsical, family fun PLUS social commentary. What's not to like about that?
