Saw the website, Bankable Script, with $10k screenwriting contest. For different levels of fees, they will enter script into contest, provide feedback, grade it, etc. Check it out at www.bankablescript.com.
Thumbs up or down? Are you Cats generally opposed to "pay for feedback/contest" sites?

First, there are legitimate contests out there with a history of winners getting agents, selling scripts and placing writers; The Nicholls, The Austin, UCLA...
However, I'm generally against pay for feedback contests and especially when I can't verify the credentials of the people doing the judging and especially if they have no history whatsoever.
For instance, look at this page; http://www.bankablescript.com/about
Four out of the seven people listed have no data even entered and one of the remaining ones is the guy who created the website.
Not even last names I can IMDB?
And http://www.bankablescript.com/submit
$149?!?? ARE YOU SHITTING ME?
Now, I would pay several times that for a consultation with a well known script doctor if I really thought I had something and wanted to push it over the top, but people I don't know and can't even check out? Come on.
Looks to me like the only thing on that website/contest that is "bankable" is their ability to get people to pay them.

There are plenty of contests out there with great reputations and guess what-- they're cheaper! Granted, many don't provide feedback unless you're a semi-finalist or finalist. But much of the time, you'll get more thorough feedback from the people on this forum.
If you're even considering paying money for constructive feedback, send Scott the Reader his $60.
Once in a while I'll enter a contest to win bragging rights, but winning isn't usually my strategy. There are contests that have a panel of top executives and producers reviewing the finalists and if I think I have a good shot at making the finals, I'll enter the contest just to make sure those guys read my screenplay. And that's worth the entry fee.
