Anyone in the forum have one already? If not, I'll work on it and post in the WikiScreenplay forum. Let me know, thanks!

If you do it, how about posting it in our forum, as well?

Out of curiosity, why that movie?

Sure thing, will put it in the stacks. Comes on TV 5/16, so I'm recording it and will take time that week to break it down.

As for why, the monkey is climbing up on my shoulder again and whispering new thoughts about a something I've been thinking of in a similar concept, so I wanted to beat it out first.

Would you consider 'Yes Man' a Surreal Bottle? Doesn't quite match the definition, but I think it's the closest one. It's surely an OOTB, though.

Your thoughts, Robb?

I recall two things of that disappointing movie. The feeling afterwards that it was an OOTB without a "spell" (aka magic and fun) and that the character or his issue was not relatable.

It surely had a 'spell'...it was the covenant that was made during the seminar to say 'yes' or 'bad things would happen'. And it was reinforced almost immediately afterward. True, that it wasn't a 'magic spell' such as Liar Liar, but this internal spell definitely had a hold on the character. And he was able to learn the lesson from it.

As for not being relatable, i suppose that's in the eye of the individual. It didn't do well in the box office, sure, but it definitely hit all the beats. I'm looking forward to analyzing it. Will post when I do.

What OOTB would you characterize it as? Or would you chose another category?

That there's no actual magic is why I feel it's not a true OOTB and one reason why the movie is disappointing. The magic is a big part of the fun in an OOTB. And to be clear, without the magic, the movie may be a ROP or something else or just muddled.

I saw it just the one time because it was depressing so I don't recall details, just these feelings, and can't dissect it further. If you offer the beat sheet, maybe I'll chime in if others don't. But whatever that movie is, there are better ones to learn from.
