| Dennis, thanks for sharing. I do something similar, only I use a stack of little index cards to write down my ideas. I carry them with me and review them whenever I have a moment. What I especially like about this is that I can shuffle the cards before reviewing and usually the new order sparks new ideas, too.

Woody Allen famously writes down anything he finds interesting on anything available anywhere he happens to be and shoves it in his pocket. When he gets home, he takes it out of his pocket and shoves it in a drawer.
When he wants to write a screenplay, which is something he does at least once every year, he takes the contents of the drawer and dumps it out and shuffles through it.
As for myself, I've been migrating to Evernote. If you haven't checked it out yet, you probably ought to give it a look.
In addition to the basic story ideas, I also keep a "dialogue" file for particularly tasty bits of dialogue I toss off every now and then in everyday life I feel might come in handy later on.
Hey, whatever works.
