Never saw it.
I read this blurb for it on imdb.com
Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city's most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him--and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.
If that's a good synopsis I'd say you are looking a a dude with a problem of some sort. Law Enforcement Problem or Personal Problem.
Again I have'nt seen the film. I am just going from the synopsis what it feels like. Which is the point of genre anyways. To give people an idea of what they are in for. |

It's great, Debbie! And it just occured to me that Kevin Smith and QT are among the few filmmakers who are cool enough -and wise enough- to let their movies being uploaded on Ytube.

Personally I think its a BL with hints at DWAP and WhyDunnit. Mostly the way that Franco and Rogan's characters get closer and closer to each other as the crazy situation progresses.
But that's just my two cents.

pineapple express is a buddy cop movie. it's basically the stoner version of lethal weapon. instead of them being detectives they're a stoner and a drug dealer who fumble their way into taking down a big time drug dealer. could also have elements of dwap, but thats the thing about the cat genre's there's always a few elements.
but if you look at it like lethal weapon or more recently 21 jumpstreet, i think you'll see a lot of resemblances.
