What part of the story backfires to create conflict?

(I like this L.L.) Just my take, as it's not my story:
I'm guessing a) After the fun and games...he discovers he does not have a lot in common with people "his age".
b) Ala Nutty P...the magic starts to wear off -- causing problems.
The lesson might be: however old you are -- enjoy your life now.
Cheers,
Martin

| You could treat it as a modern retelling of Faust, but with a happier ending.

| Please don't make it a magic potion. Create something new. There's a new movie coming out called 17 Again with a similar premise (Matthew Perry becomes Zack Effron).

Matthew Perry becomes Zack Efron? That's like the slightly older version of Zack Efron transforming into the slightly younger version of Matthew Perry...
I'd much rather see the grumpy 90-year-old have to deal with the problems of youth again. What if you did this in a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde manner? Your hero gets to be young again for only 8 hours a day. So he still has to deal with death. Could be a very primal story.

Then look no farther than "18 Again" starring George Burns as the octogenarian who switches bodies with his teenage great-grandson. Mind you, that film was 20 years ago, but it does fit your description.
As an added bonus, there was no potion, just a birthday wish. It seems they both share a birthday and when they blew out the candles together, their wishes combined to swap their brains. The great-grandson kind of got the shaft, though.
Actually, it's kind of like 'Prelude to Kiss' without all the trans-gender issues.
Not being very constructive, am I? What if instead of actually becoming young, he gets knocked on the noodle and completely looses all memory of the past 70 years. He's still old, but he thinks and acts like a teenager. The old adage that you're only as young as you think you are comes in to play as he becomes very popular despite his age.
Man, I should become a screenwriter...
